Runs on T-Mobile’s network

Optimum Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator on T-Mobile’s 4G LTE and 5G — the same towers and the same coverage map, sold under the Optimum name.

Bundle to unlock the rate

The advertised per-line price assumes you’re also an Optimum Internet customer. Add mobile without it, and a $20-per-line surcharge lands on your third bill.

No annual contract

Month-to-month on every line, no early termination fee. Add, drop or swap lines any time — you only pay for what’s active.

Optimum Mobile plans and pricing

Three data tiers, unlimited talk and text on the two Unlimited plans. The real decision is how much high-speed data and hotspot each line needs, how many lines you’re adding, and whether your account is bundled with Optimum Internet — that combination sets your actual rate.

*The $20 / $26.67 per-line rates require Auto Pay, 3 or more lines, and a linked Optimum Internet account. They also require a number transfer from another carrier within 21 days of activation, or 36-month device financing, on at least one of the lines. Current promotional pricing is for new customers and may require a coupon code at signup. A $25 activation fee applies per line. Taxes and surcharges are additional.

Prices shown are Optimum’s current advertised rate for the Unlimited and Unlimited Max plans, verified against optimum.com, and require Auto Pay, 3 or more lines and an active, linked Optimum Internet account. They exclude taxes and fees. Optimum Mobile runs on T-Mobile’s network; coverage and 5G availability follow T-Mobile’s own map and vary by location. A $25 activation fee applies per line. Accounts without a linked Optimum Internet subscription are charged an additional $20/mo. per line starting with the third billing cycle. Promotional per-line pricing may require a number port or device financing and is for new customers only. Pricing, promotions and eligibility are set by Optimum Mobile and can change without notice. Nothing on this page is a quote — we confirm the exact number that applies to your lines before you order.

Limited-Time Offers

Current Optimum Mobile deals and discounts

New Lines

Up to $55/mo. in bill credits applied to a third Unlimited, Unlimited Max or Tablet Unlimited line — effectively one line free. Requires a number transfer within 21 days or device financing on one of the three lines.

Device

No trade-in required. An eligible plan is required, and the savings are delivered as bill credits over time rather than an upfront discount.

Device + Trade-In

Up to $600 off Galaxy S26 Ultra

For well-qualified customers on Unlimited or Unlimited Max who trade in an eligible device. Applied as 36 monthly bill credits toward device financing; tax on the pre-credit price is due at sale. Trade-in value plus credits can’t exceed the device cost.

Switching

Up to $2,500 device payoff

Optimum will pay off your current phone’s remaining balance, up to $2,500, when you switch and finance a new device through them. Terms and eligible devices apply.

Peace of Mind

60-day money-back guarantee

Not satisfied within 60 days? Optimum refunds your Optimum Mobile service and activation fees. They’ll also reimburse up to $25 of a competitor’s activation fee for switching.

Bundle

$20/mo. off Internet with Optimum Complete

Sign up for Mobile within 30 days of a 300 Mbps+ Internet plan and get $20/mo. credited to your Internet bill for 12 months — on top of avoiding the unbundled mobile surcharge.

The fine print that decides eligibility

  • New customers only; savings delivered as monthly bill credits, starting within 1–2 billing cycles
  • Paperless billing and Auto Pay required on Mobile
  • On at least one line: a number transfer from another carrier within 21 days of activation, or 36-month device financing
  • One promotion per account — most of these offers don’t stack with each other
  • Cancel any time; cancellation is effective at the end of the then-current billing period

Every offer above requires new-line signup, Auto Pay and paperless billing, and most require a number port or device financing on at least one line. Savings are typically delivered as monthly bill credits, not an upfront discount, and credits can take one to two billing cycles to start. Offers are limited-time, may require a coupon code, cannot always be combined with each other, and are set by Optimum, not Telemedia Solutions. We’ll tell you exactly which offers you qualify for and which combination actually saves you the most before you order.

International calling and roaming add-ons

If you regularly call or text outside the US, Optimum Mobile groups countries into two simple add-on tiers rather than charging per call.

Add-onCoveragePrice
Mexico & CanadaUnlimited calls & texts$5/mo.
181 countries300 min., 300 SMS/MMS to most of Latin America & Europe; 60 SMS/MMS elsewhere$15/mo.

Day and week Travel Pass options are also available for occasional trips rather than an ongoing add-on — ask us which fits your situation.

Plan Selection

How many lines — and which plan?

Most households overthink this. Here is the honest, quick version.

1 line, light use

Unlimited covers normal calling, texting and everyday browsing comfortably. Single-line pricing sits above the advertised 3-line rate — ask for your exact number, or consider the 1GB plan if your use is very light.

3+ lines, a family

This is where the advertised rate (from $20/line) applies, and where current promos add the most value — a free line or a free device on top of the base rate.

Heavy hotspot & streaming

Unlimited Max’s larger 15GB hotspot allowance and 50GB high-speed data matter most if you regularly tether a laptop or stream in the car.

Already have Internet or TV

Adding Mobile is where the math changes most for you — it removes the unbundled surcharge and can unlock the $20/mo. Optimum Complete Internet credit.

For the full breakdown with real numbers, read our guide to Optimum Mobile plans, data options and bundle savings.

The Detail That Decides It

Why the advertised rate assumes you have Optimum Internet

Optimum Mobile’s headline per-line price is built for existing Optimum Internet customers, and it’s a two-way street — there’s a penalty for skipping the bundle and a separate reward for completing it.

Skip the bundle, and a $20-per-line surcharge is added starting with your third billing cycle. On three lines that’s an extra $60/mo. — enough to erase most of the saving that made Optimum Mobile look cheap in the first place.

Complete the bundle, and Optimum currently credits $20/mo. to your Internet bill for 12 months, on top of the mobile side of the math, if your Internet plan is 300 Mbps or above and Mobile is added within 30 days.

Internet + Mobile bundle

The current Optimum Complete promotion credits $20/mo. to your Internet bill for 12 months when Mobile is linked to a 300 Mbps+ Internet plan within 30 days — separate from, and in addition to, avoiding the unbundled mobile surcharge above. Honest Answer

What network does Optimum Mobile actually use?

Optimum Mobile does not own cell towers. It is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that resells access to T-Mobile’s 4G LTE and 5G network under the Optimum name.

That means your coverage map, 5G availability and call quality mirror T-Mobile’s own network in your area — not a separate Optimum wireless build. Billing, support and your account still run entirely through Optimum.

Coverage is worth checking before you switch, not after. If T-Mobile’s network is weak at your address or workplace, Optimum Mobile will be too. Ask us to compare it against your current carrier before you commit.

Because it’s national, not local

Optimum only sells home internet in 21 states. Optimum Mobile isn’t limited that way — because it rides T-Mobile’s network, it works anywhere T-Mobile’s national coverage reaches, including well outside Optimum’s own cable and fiber footprint.

5G requires a 5G device

5G speeds need a 5G-capable phone, and 5G isn’t available everywhere even on T-Mobile’s map. Where 5G doesn’t reach, your line falls back to 4G LTE automatically.

Roaming runs at reduced speeds

Domestic off-network (off T-Mobile) roaming is served at 2G speeds under Optimum Mobile’s network management policy. It’s meant as a fallback, not a primary connection.

International coverage

Calling and texting outside the US runs on separate add-ons, not your base plan — see current international pricing if you travel or call abroad often.

How to check coverage before you switch

  1. Give us your exact address, and your workplace if it’s different

Coverage is a location-level fact, not a citywide one.

  2. We check T-Mobile’s map for both

Since Optimum Mobile’s coverage mirrors T-Mobile’s, that’s the map that actually matters.

  3. We compare it against your current carrier

If your current network is stronger where you actually spend your time, we’ll tell you before you switch, not after.

Devices & BYOD

Bring your own phone, or get a deal on a new one

Bringing your own device is the cheapest way onto Optimum Mobile. Getting a new one is where the current promotions above do the most work. Here’s how each path actually works.

Bring your own device

Your device must be unlocked. Optimum Mobile currently supports iPhone 11 and newer, plus newer Motorola and Samsung devices. Check your exact device with its IMEI at optimum.com/mobile/bring-your-own-device before you cancel anything with your current carrier.

Is my phone unlocked?

If you’re not sure, call your current carrier and ask — each carrier has its own unlocking policy and timeline. Porting your number to Optimum Mobile (rather than getting a new one) also avoids a deposit fee on some accounts.

Get a new device

Current promotions include the iPhone 17e on us with a 3-line signup and $500 off the Samsung Galaxy S26 with no trade-in required. Device financing terms and eligible plans vary — see current deals.

Trade in your old phone

Switching customers may qualify to have their current device’s remaining balance paid off, up to $2,500, when they finance a new device with Optimum. We confirm your device’s exact trade or payoff value before you commit to anything.

Bring your own device, by brand

Apple

iPhone 11 and newer are generally supported. Older iPhones (SE, iPhone 6–10) are not currently eligible for BYOD.

Samsung

Newer Samsung Galaxy devices are generally supported. Exact model eligibility depends on your specific device — check its IMEI.

Motorola

Newer Motorola devices are generally supported, on the same unlocked-device basis as Apple and Samsung.

How to check if your device qualifies

  1. Find your IMEI

iPhone: Settings > General > About. Android: Settings > About Phone > Status. iPad: Settings > General > About. It’s also usually printed on the device itself.

  2. Confirm it’s unlocked

If you’re not sure, call your current carrier — each has its own unlocking policy and timeline.

  3. Enter the IMEI at optimum.com/mobile/bring-your-own-device

This confirms compatibility before you cancel anything with your current carrier. eSIM-ready phones connect fastest, without swapping a physical SIM card.

Activation & number porting

Keeping your current number is the standard path during activation, and several current promotions require a number port within 21 days as part of their terms. A $25 activation fee applies per line, separate from any device cost.

Trading in your old device

  1. Shop and get an estimate

Choose your new device and select Trade-in at checkout. A few questions about your old device’s model and condition get you an estimated value.

  2. Ship your device in

A prepaid shipping label is provided. Your device’s condition is confirmed on arrival, or the estimate is adjusted if it doesn’t match what was reported.

  3. Receive monthly trade-in credits

Credits begin within 1–2 billing cycles and are spread over 36 months — not paid as a single lump sum.

Trade-in devices must be fully paid off and unlocked by your previous carrier. Trading in and financing a new device together is allowed for qualified customers; financing may require a credit check.

Fees & Contract

What you pay beyond the plan price

Activation fee

A $25 activation fee applies per line, at signup.

Contract

Optimum Mobile is month-to-month with no annual contract and no early termination fee. Add, remove or change lines any time.

The unbundled surcharge

This is the line item that changes the math most: a $20/mo. per line surcharge applies starting with your third bill if the line isn’t linked to an active Optimum Internet account. It doesn’t appear in the headline price, which is exactly why we flag it upfront.

Head to Head

How Optimum Mobile compares

Nearly every cable-bundled mobile plan follows the same shape — a strong rate tied to owning the home service. The differences are in the underlying network and exactly how the bundle requirement bites.

FAQ

Optimum Mobile questions we get asked most

What network does Optimum Mobile use?

Optimum Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator that runs on T-Mobile’s 4G LTE and 5G network. Coverage and 5G availability follow T-Mobile’s own map in your area.

How much does Optimum Mobile cost per line?

The advertised rate is $20/mo. per line for Unlimited and $26.67/mo. per line for Unlimited Max, both requiring 3 or more lines, Auto Pay, and a linked Optimum Internet account. Single-line pricing and 1GB plan pricing vary; call to confirm the exact rate for your lines.

How many lines do I need for the advertised price?

Three or more lines. Fewer lines are billed at a higher per-line rate — ask us for your exact number if you’re signing up with one or two lines.

Do I need Optimum Internet to get Optimum Mobile?

No, but the advertised per-line rate assumes it. Without a linked Optimum Internet account, a $20-per-line surcharge is added starting with your third billing cycle.

What Optimum Mobile deals are currently running?

As of this month: the iPhone 17e free with a 3-line signup, a buy-2-lines-get-1-free promotion worth up to $55/mo. in credits, $500 off the Samsung Galaxy S26 with no trade-in required, up to $2,500 in device-balance payoff when switching, a 60-day money-back guarantee, and a $20/mo. Internet-bill credit for bundling Mobile with a 300 Mbps+ Internet plan. Offers change often and have their own eligibility rules — call to confirm what currently applies.

What devices can I bring to Optimum Mobile?

Optimum Mobile currently supports iPhone 11 and newer, plus newer Motorola and Samsung devices, for Bring Your Own Device. Your phone must be unlocked. Check your specific device’s eligibility with its IMEI at optimum.com/mobile/bring-your-own-device.

Do I need to trade in my old phone to get a device discount?

Not always. The current Samsung Galaxy S26 discount requires no trade-in. Separately, switching customers may qualify to have their current device’s remaining balance paid off, up to $2,500, when financing a new device.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes. Optimum currently offers a 60-day money-back guarantee covering Optimum Mobile service and activation fees, plus reimbursement of up to $25 of a competitor’s activation fee.

What’s the difference between Unlimited and Unlimited Max?

Unlimited includes 20GB of high-speed data and 5GB of mobile hotspot per line before speeds are reduced. Unlimited Max includes 50GB of high-speed data and 15GB of hotspot per line, for households with heavier data or hotspot use.

What happens after I use my high-speed data allowance?

Speeds are reduced for the remainder of the billing cycle: to roughly 3G after 20GB on Unlimited or 50GB on Unlimited Max. Talk and text remain unlimited on every plan regardless of data use.

Is there a contract with Optimum Mobile?

No. Optimum Mobile is month-to-month with no annual contract and no early termination fee.

Is there an activation fee?

Yes, a $25 activation fee applies per line at signup.

Does Optimum Mobile support 5G?

Yes, wherever T-Mobile’s 5G network reaches, since Optimum Mobile runs on T-Mobile’s infrastructure rather than a separate network.

Is mobile hotspot data included?

Yes. Unlimited includes 5GB of hotspot data per line; Unlimited Max includes 15GB per line, both before speeds are reduced.

Can I keep my current phone number?

Yes, number porting is part of the standard activation process, and several current promotions specifically require a port within 21 days to qualify.

Is Optimum Mobile available outside Optimum’s home internet coverage area?

Yes. Because it runs on T-Mobile’s national network rather than Optimum’s own cable and fiber footprint, Optimum Mobile works well beyond the 21 states where Optimum sells home internet.

Can I cancel Optimum Mobile at any time?

Yes. There is no annual contract and no early termination fee; service is month-to-month.

Are taxes and fees included in the advertised price?

No. Advertised per-line prices exclude taxes, surcharges and the $25 per-line activation fee.

How is Optimum Mobile billed?

Mobile charges appear on your Optimum account, alongside Internet or TV if you have them bundled.

How do I know if Optimum Mobile is a good fit for me?

Call us with your current carrier, bill, line count and device. We compare the real Optimum Mobile price and current promotions, bundled and unbundled, against what you’re paying now, and say so plainly if it isn’t a better deal.

Which phone brands can I bring to Optimum Mobile?

iPhone 11 and newer, plus newer Motorola and Samsung devices, are generally supported for BYOD. Your exact device’s eligibility is confirmed by its IMEI, not just its brand.

How do I trade in my old phone?

Shop for a new device and select Trade-in at checkout for an estimate, ship your old device in with a prepaid label, then receive monthly bill credits over 36 months once it’s received and verified. The device must be fully paid off and unlocked.

What’s the difference between the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra offers?

The $500 Galaxy S26 discount requires no trade-in. The up-to-$600 Galaxy S26 Ultra offer requires trading in an eligible device and financing the new one, with credits spread over 36 months.

Does Optimum Mobile work internationally?

Your base plan covers the US. For calling and texting abroad, Optimum Mobile offers add-ons: $5/mo. for unlimited Mexico & Canada, or $15/mo. for coverage across 181 countries, plus day/week Travel Pass options for occasional trips.

Do I need a 5G phone to use Optimum Mobile?

Only to get 5G speeds. A non-5G or older device still works on 4G LTE. Where T-Mobile’s 5G doesn’t reach, any device falls back to 4G LTE automatically.

What happens when I’m outside T-Mobile’s network?

Domestic off-network roaming is served at reduced (2G) speeds under Optimum Mobile’s network management policy — it’s a fallback, not something to rely on regularly.
