Internet Providers in Wylie, TX: Fiber, Cable & 5G Compared
Wylie has the highest community-fiber share in our North Texas set, and most of its households own their homes. In the FCC filings, Frontier Fiber and Spectrum cable each reach about 99% of Wylie, Hotwire community fiber about 43%, and AT&T Fiber does not appear. Because roughly three in four households own, the lasting questions are a locked price over many years and what your HOA or builder has already arranged. This page covers both.

Check Frontier Fiber first, then ask your HOA what is already wired
Frontier Fiber reaches about 99% of Wylie, uploads as fast as it downloads and locks its price for four years on the 500 Mbps plan, which suits the 76% of households that own and stay put. Spectrum cable is the near-universal alternative, cheaper in year one and far more expensive afterward.
Hotwire community fiber reports about 43% of the city, usually through a builder or HOA arrangement. If your neighborhood has it, find out what it costs and whether you can choose another provider before you order anything.

Wylie’s 95.9% broadband subscription rate is among the highest we profiled, behind Allen (97.3%) and Lewisville (96.3%). With 76.2% of households owning, long-term cost matters more here than in renter-heavy cities such as Irving (62% renters) or Denton (51%), because owners keep the same plan for years.

Wylie’s networks, by how many addresses they report
These numbers summarize provider filings to the FCC for Wylie’s city boundary, as listed by an independent directory in October 2026. They show where a provider says it could serve a location, not where the wiring is already at your unit.

Frontier. Fiber 500 is $44.99 a month with Auto Pay and its rate is guaranteed for four years (five on faster plans), which is what a homeowner who plans to stay wants. The $100 install fee on 500 Mbps is waived from 1 Gig up. Verizon completed its Frontier purchase on January 20, 2026.
Spectrum. It starts at $30 for 100 Mbps and $40 for 500 Mbps, then steps to $50 and $85 from month 13. The Gig plan uploads near 35 Mbps, so it is best kept for short stays.
What an owner pays over five years
| Plan | Year one, per month | After year one | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 Mbps, five years of ownership | |||
Fiber 500 | $44.99 | $44.99, locked 4 years | $2,699.40 (five years) |
500 Mbps | $40 | $85 | $4,380 (five years) |
Planning estimates from published rates checked October 1–4, 2026, before taxes, fees and equipment. Frontier and AT&T assume Auto Pay and paperless billing. We confirm the live price before any order.
Over five years of ownership on the 500 Mbps tier, Frontier comes to about $2,699 if its rate stays flat (it is guaranteed for four years, and the fifth year is billed at Frontier’s rate then), against about $4,380 for Spectrum. Even if Frontier’s rate rises after year four, the gap is large because Spectrum’s $85 rate starts in month 13.
If your Wylie community has Hotwire: what to ask before you buy
Hotwire is community fiber, reported at about 43% of Wylie and advertised up to 8 Gig each way. It usually comes through an arrangement between a builder or HOA and the provider, which can mean included service, a bulk rate or a single provider on site. We do not sell Hotwire, so here are the questions that protect you:
- Is internet part of the HOA dues or billed separately, and what does it cost per month?
- Can I choose another provider, and does the HOA fee continue if I do?
- What speeds are included, and what do faster tiers cost?
- How long does the agreement run, and what happens at renewal?
- Is the wiring owned by the HOA or the provider, and who repairs it?
The FCC’s 2022 order bans exclusive and graduated revenue-sharing agreements and requires disclosure of exclusive marketing arrangements, and the commission applied the same logic to community associations, while ordinary bulk billing remains allowed. See the FCC order and a community-association summary.
How to read the FCC National Broadband Map for your own Wylie address
- Open the FCC National Broadband Map and type your full street address.
- Choose the fixed broadband view to see which providers report service at your location, with the technology and advertised speeds.
- Look for the technology label: fiber, cable or fixed wireless. Fiber and cable are very different in upload speed.
- Remember the map shows what a provider reports it could serve, not what is wired to your unit or allowed by your HOA.
- If a listing looks wrong, the map lets you file a challenge, and a phone check with the provider settles most doubts.
Use the map to narrow the field, then confirm with the provider or with us. A listed provider that cannot actually install at your address is the most common surprise in a new-construction neighborhood.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Frontier Fiber reach about 99% of Wylie?
In the FCC filings, Frontier Fiber is the widest fiber in Wylie. That counts addresses Frontier says it could serve, so confirm your street or builder before you plan around the number.
Why would a Wylie homeowner choose Spectrum?
Mostly for a short stay or a bundle: it reports about 99% of the city and starts at $40 for 500 Mbps. For a house you will keep, the $85 rate after year one makes it the costlier path.
What is Hotwire in Wylie?
Hotwire is community fiber reported at about 43% of Wylie, advertised up to 8 Gig each way. It usually comes through a builder or HOA arrangement rather than an individual plan, and we do not sell it.
Is Hotwire mandatory in my Wylie HOA?
It depends on the community’s agreement. Some HOAs include it in dues, some offer it as an option and some allow other providers, so ask the HOA in writing whether you can opt out and whether the fee continues if you do.
Can I choose another provider if my Wylie HOA has Hotwire?
Often yes, but check whether HOA dues still cover Hotwire if you do. The FCC’s 2022 rules bar exclusive and graduated revenue-sharing deals and require disclosure of exclusive marketing arrangements, while ordinary bulk billing is still allowed.
What should I ask before buying a home in a Wylie neighborhood with Hotwire?
Ask whether internet is in the dues, the monthly cost, the speeds, how long the agreement runs, who owns the wiring and whether you can order another provider. Get answers in writing before closing.
What is Astound in Wylie?
Astound reports about 24% fiber in Wylie, advertised up to 1.5 Gig. We do not sell it, so check its own address tool and compare its price after the promotion with the plans we can order.
Is Optimum available in Wylie?
Optimum cable appears in about 8% of Wylie, advertised up to 940 Mbps with uploads far below that. We can check Optimum at your address alongside Frontier and Spectrum so you can compare real prices and terms.
Are Rise and Nextlink worth considering in Wylie?
They are local fixed-wireless providers reported at about 41% and 21% of the city, advertised up to 300/60 and 400/100 Mbps. We do not sell either; with fiber at about 99%, most households will prefer a wired plan.
About 76% of Wylie households own. How should owners compare plans?
Over the long run, not the first year. A locked rate, upload speed and a good gateway matter more to someone who stays for years, and Frontier’s four-year price lock fits that better than a plan that jumps in month 13.
What does Wylie’s 95.9% broadband subscription rate mean?
The Census reports 95.9% of households have a broadband subscription, among the highest we profiled. Almost everyone is connected, so the useful comparisons are price after the promotion, upload speed and your HOA’s arrangement.
What does a Wylie homeowner save with a locked rate?
On 500 Mbps, about $1,380 over four years versus Spectrum, because Frontier stays at $44.99 while Spectrum climbs to $85. Owners who stay longer save more.
Which Wylie plans keep the same price for years?
Frontier’s base rate is guaranteed for four years on Fiber 500 and five on faster plans. Spectrum steps up in month 13, and AT&T fiber does not appear in Wylie’s data, so Frontier is the long-term anchor here.
How do I use the FCC map to check my Wylie address?
Enter your full address at broadbandmap.fcc.gov, choose the fixed broadband view and read the provider, technology and speed. It shows what providers report they could serve, so confirm with the provider before you plan.
The map says my Wylie address is covered but I can’t order. Why?
Coverage maps show what a provider could serve, not what is connected to your home. New construction, a builder or HOA agreement, or a street at the edge of a network are common causes. Checking your exact address usually settles it.
How fast does a Wylie house need to be?
A house of four is comfortable on 500 Mbps; owners with home offices or many cameras may choose 1 Gig. Frontier advertises up to 7 Gig and Hotwire up to 8 Gig in some communities, though few homes can use that.
What upload speed should a Wylie home office have?
Symmetrical fiber. Frontier reaches about 99% of Wylie and uploads as fast as it downloads; Spectrum’s Gig plan uploads near 35 Mbps, enough for calls but slow for large files and backups.
Is it worth wiring a Wylie house for Ethernet?
If you own, yes. Running cable to the office or game room costs little against years of Wi-Fi frustration, and it works with any provider you choose later.
Do Wylie homeowners pay more by ordering through Telemedia Solutions?
No. Orders are placed at the provider’s own price, and the provider handles billing, installation and support. Providers pay us for completed orders, which does not change what you pay.
What do you need to check a Wylie address, including new construction?
The full street address and, for new builds, the builder or HOA name. We look up each provider, tell you whether an HOA or builder arrangement applies, give the price after the promotion and say so if the best option is a network we do not sell.
