Frontier Is Now Part of Verizon: What the Acquisition Means for Your Service, Bill, and Account
Frontier Is Now a Verizon Company
If you're a Frontier Fiber customer, you may have heard the news: Verizon completed its acquisition of Frontier Communications on January 20, 2026. Frontier didn't disappear — your service, your account, and your bill all continue working exactly as they did before. But there are real changes worth understanding, including some new savings you're now eligible for.
Here's what actually happened, what it means for your account today, and what's likely to change down the road.
The Deal: What Happened
Verizon agreed to acquire Frontier Communications for roughly $20 billion — Frontier shareholders received $38.50 per share. The deal closed on January 20, 2026, after Verizon and Frontier secured all required regulatory approvals, including a final sign-off from California regulators on January 15, 2026.
By combining Frontier's fiber network with Verizon's Fios network, the combined company now reaches almost 30 million fiber passings across 31 states and Washington, D.C. Before the deal, Verizon Fios covered 15 states and Frontier Fiber covered 16 — together they now cover both footprints under one parent company.
Is Frontier Now Called Verizon?
Not exactly — at least not yet. Frontier is now officially described as "Frontier, a Verizon Company," but the Frontier brand, website, app, and customer service remain in place for the time being. This isn't the same as the Charter-Cox merger, where the Cox name is being fully retired in favor of the Spectrum brand. Verizon has said plans will eventually standardize across its combined territory, but no firm timeline for a full rebrand to Fios has been announced.
What This Means for Your Frontier Account
Will Your Bill Change?
Not because of the acquisition itself. Frontier's own guidance is direct: current Frontier Fiber plans are staying the same for now, and pricing isn't changing as a result of the merger. Eventually, Frontier says plans will standardize across the combined Verizon/Frontier footprint — but no changes have been announced yet, and any that come will reportedly be communicated in advance.
Are Frontier and Verizon Billing Combined Now?
No. If you have both Frontier Fiber and Verizon Wireless mobile service, you'll continue receiving two separate bills for now. Verizon has said customers will get advance notice if and when Frontier's billing, tech support, and account tools eventually merge with Verizon's systems.
Do You Need to Change Equipment or Sign a New Contract?
No. Your existing Frontier equipment keeps working, and no new contract is required. Frontier's fiber plans have never used annual contracts, and that hasn't changed under Verizon ownership.
Will Your Service Be Interrupted?
Frontier says no service interruptions are expected as a direct result of the merger. If any planned outages are needed to maintain or upgrade the network, customers will be notified in advance.
New Savings Now Available to Frontier Customers
This is the part most current customers don't know about yet: being part of Verizon comes with real, ongoing discounts you can claim today.
Mobile + Home Discount — $15/mo off your internet bill. If you switch your mobile phone service to Verizon (or already have it, or use a Verizon Value brand like Straight Talk, Total Wireless, TracFone, or Visible) and link that account to your Frontier Fiber service, you get $15/mo off your home internet bill. Enrollment is required, and the discount typically applies within 1-2 billing cycles.
Mobile perk credit for Fiber 2 Gig+ customers. If you're on Frontier Fiber 2 Gig or a higher tier, you can also get up to a $10/mo credit toward one Verizon mobile perk — options include Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+, Netflix & HBO Max, Apple One, Apple Music Family, or YouTube Premium.
Verizon Forward affordable internet program. Frontier Fiber customers now have access to Verizon Forward, offering up to $30/mo off eligible Fiber plans (Fiber 15, Fiber 30, Fiber 200, Fiber 500, 2 Gig, 5 Gig, and 7 Gig) for households that qualify through programs like Lifeline, SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, SSI, or Section 8. This rolled out to most states first, with California and New York added by the end of July 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Frontier really owned by Verizon now?
Yes. Verizon completed its acquisition of Frontier Communications on January 20, 2026, for roughly $20 billion. Frontier is now officially "Frontier, a Verizon Company," though it continues operating under the Frontier brand for the time being.
Will my Frontier bill go up because of the merger?
Not directly. Frontier says current pricing isn't changing because of the acquisition. Plans are expected to standardize across the combined Verizon/Frontier footprint eventually, but no specific changes or dates have been announced.
Do I need to do anything as a current Frontier customer?
No action is required. Your account, billing, login, and equipment all continue working as before. The one thing worth doing is checking whether you qualify for the new $15/mo Mobile + Home discount if you have (or switch to) Verizon mobile service.
