Internet Providers in Irving, TX: Fiber, Cable & 5G Compared
Irving is a renter’s city: the Census counts about 62% of households as renters, a higher share than any other city we checked, and that shapes almost every internet decision here. In the FCC filings, Frontier Fiber reaches about 81% of Irving, Spectrum cable covers nearly all of it, and AT&T Fiber reaches about 23%. 5G home internet from Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T is reported across almost the whole city. Below is how to choose, what it costs, and what to ask before you sign a lease.

Renting? Ask the building first. Owning? Check Frontier first.
If you own, start with Frontier Fiber: it reaches about 81% of Irving in the filings, uploads as fast as it downloads and locks its price for four years on the 500 Mbps plan. AT&T Fiber (about 23%) is a bonus where it exists, and Spectrum cable (about 99%) is the wired fallback.
If you rent, which most of Irving does, the building usually decides. Ask the leasing office what is already wired to your unit before you commit to a plan, and use the numbers below to know which questions matter.

Irving is the most renter-heavy city we have looked at: 61.7% of households rent, against about 43% in Fort Worth and 38% in Garland. Renters rarely choose a network the way owners do, so the practical question is what the building has already installed, not what the street map shows.
The 91.0% broadband subscription rate is a little above Texas at 90.0%, so most of Irving already pays for service. For most people the real decision is price after the promotion and upload speed, not whether to connect.

Irving’s networks, by how many addresses they report
These numbers summarize provider filings to the FCC for Irving’s city boundary, as listed by an independent directory in October 2026. They show where a provider says it could serve a location, not where the wiring is already at your unit.

Frontier. Fiber 500 is $44.99 a month with Auto Pay and the price is guaranteed for four years; faster plans carry five. Frontier is owned by Verizon (the deal closed on January 20, 2026) but still sells as Frontier, and our guide to the Frontier–Verizon deal explains what that means for an order.
Spectrum. It is cheapest in year one ($30 for 100 Mbps, $40 for 500) and most expensive by year four ($50 and $85 after the first year). Its Gig plan uploads at roughly 35 Mbps, which matters for video calls.
AT&T. Fiber 300, 500 and 1 Gig are $50, $60 and $70 ($35, $45 and $50 with an eligible AT&T wireless plan), and the step-up after year one depends on the tier. The directory also lists AT&T’s older DSL in about 27% of Irving, which is not fiber, so ask which one you are being quoted.
Four years, or one lease: two ways to read the bill
| Plan | Year one, per month | After year one | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 Mbps, four years | |||
Fiber 500 | $44.99 | $44.99, locked | $2,159.52 |
500 Mbps | $60 | $65 | $3,060 |
500 Mbps | $40 | $85 | $3,540 |
Planning estimates from published rates checked October 1–14, 2026, before taxes, fees and equipment. Frontier and AT&T assume Auto Pay and paperless billing. We confirm the live price before any order.
If you plan to stay four years, Frontier’s locked rate saves about $900 over AT&T and $1,380 over Spectrum where it reaches. If your lease is twelve months, the picture flips: Spectrum’s $40 first-year rate is the cheapest, so compare early-termination terms and whether any price lock moves with you before you decide.
Five questions to ask before you sign an Irving lease
- Which internet providers are already wired to my unit, and are they fiber or cable?
- Is internet included in the rent or billed through the property, and can I opt out?
- May I order a different provider, and who pays for any new wiring?
- Is there a technology or amenity fee, and is it charged even if I use my own provider?
- What happens to my service and any price lock when I move out?
You have more leverage than many renters realize. In February 2022 the FCC banned exclusive and graduated revenue-sharing agreements between certain providers and building owners, and it requires providers with exclusive marketing arrangements to tell residents that other providers may be available. Standard bulk billing, where the property pays for service for every unit, is still allowed, and some provisions do not reach internet-only providers, so ask the property manager and the provider directly rather than assuming. Irving can go wireless: when it makes sense
Verizon (about 100%), T-Mobile (99%) and AT&T Internet Air (99%) all report coverage across nearly the whole city, so a wireless plan is a realistic backup if a building blocks the wired options. It is not a free swap, though.
| Option | Upload | Setup | Price behavior | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frontier Fiber | Same as download | Usually a technician visit | Locked 4 to 5 years | Long stays |
| Spectrum cable | About 35 Mbps on Gig | Modem included; Wi-Fi gear may cost extra | Rises sharply after year one | Short stays |
| T-Mobile or Verizon 5G | Lower and variable | Plug-in gateway, no technician | Plan-based; confirm terms | Quick moves |
| AT&T Internet Air | Lower and variable | Self-install hub | $55 with AutoPay and paperless billing | Homes without fiber |
Our rule of thumb: pick wired when you can, and treat wireless as the plan for a short lease, a building that blocks installs, or a bridge until fiber is connected. Wireless speed moves with signal and tower load, so test it for a week where return terms allow.

Frequently asked questions
Is Frontier Fiber really in most of Irving?
In the FCC filings, Frontier Fiber reaches about 81% of Irving, the widest fiber in the city. That counts addresses Frontier says it could serve, so confirm your building or street before you plan around it.
Why does AT&T Fiber reach only about 23% of Irving?
AT&T has built fiber on a minority of Irving streets, and the same directory lists its older DSL in about 27% of the city. If AT&T quotes you, ask whether the plan is AT&T Fiber or DSL, because the speeds and uploads are very different.
Does Spectrum cover all of Irving?
About 99% of the city in the filings, so it is the wired option most Irving addresses can get. Its uploads are the catch: the Gig plan sends data at roughly 35 Mbps.
What does it mean that about 62% of Irving households rent?
Census data puts owner-occupied housing at 38.3%, so roughly 62% of households rent. For internet, that means the building’s wiring and agreements often matter more than the street, so ask the leasing office before choosing a plan.
Can my Irving landlord force me to use one internet provider?
FCC rules adopted in 2022 ban exclusive and graduated revenue-sharing deals between certain providers and building owners, and require disclosure of exclusive marketing arrangements. Bulk billing is still allowed and some rules do not reach internet-only providers, so ask the property manager what is actually in place.
What is bulk-billed internet and should I accept it?
Bulk billing means the property pays one provider for service to every unit and passes the cost to residents, often through rent or a fee. It can be a fair deal, but compare the monthly cost with ordering yourself, ask about speeds and upload, and find out whether you can opt out.
Should I choose wireless internet in Irving?
Wireless is a real option here because Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T Internet Air each report coverage across almost the whole city. It suits short leases and quick moves, but speed and latency vary with signal, so use it as a backup or a short-term plan.
Which Irving option is best for a one-year lease?
Usually the one with the lowest year-one price and the fewest strings: Spectrum’s 500 Mbps plan is $40 for the first year, or a wireless plan with no technician visit. Frontier’s locked rate pays off over four years, not one.
How much does Frontier save over Spectrum in Irving?
On the 500 Mbps tier over four years, about $2,160 for Frontier Fiber against $3,540 for Spectrum, a saving of roughly $1,380 where Frontier reaches. Spectrum is cheaper only in the first year.
Is Hotwire available in Irving?
Hotwire shows up in about 3% of Irving in the filings. It is a community fiber network usually delivered through a property agreement, and we do not sell it, so ask your property manager whether your building has it.
What is the difference between AT&T Fiber and AT&T DSL in Irving?
AT&T Fiber is symmetrical and can reach multi-gig speeds, while DSL is older copper service listed at up to 100/20 Mbps. Both appear in AT&T’s Irving footprint, which is why we always confirm which one an address gets.
What does Irving’s 91% broadband subscription rate tell me?
The Census reports that 91.0% of Irving households have a broadband subscription, slightly above Texas at 90.0%. Nearly everyone is already connected, so the useful comparisons are price after the promotion and upload speed.
What upload speed do I need to work from home in Irving?
For video calls and cloud files, symmetrical fiber is the comfortable choice. Frontier and AT&T Fiber upload as fast as they download; Spectrum’s cable plans upload at roughly 35 Mbps, which is workable for many people but slower for large files.
What are the fastest speeds in Irving?
Frontier advertises up to 7 Gig and AT&T up to 5 Gig where their multi-gig fiber is built, and Hotwire up to 8 Gig in community deployments. Most apartments and homes are well served below 1 Gig.
Does wireless internet work for gaming in Irving?
It can for casual play, but latency swings with signal and tower load. For competitive gaming, wired fiber or cable is steadier, and an Ethernet cable to the console matters either way.
Can I take my service with me when I move within Irving?
Ask the provider before you move. A plan may transfer to a new address in its footprint, but a price lock or promotion may not carry over, and a new building may be wired for a different provider.
Do I need a contract for internet in Irving?
AT&T and Spectrum sell month to month. Frontier has no data caps, but its terms can include a prorated early-termination fee in some cases, so read the terms for your address.
The leasing office says only one provider is allowed. What do I do?
Ask for it in writing and ask whether it is a bulk-billing arrangement or an exclusive marketing arrangement, since the rules differ. If you can opt out, price the same speed on your own plan before you decide.
Does Telemedia Solutions charge extra for Irving plans?
No. We are an independent authorized retailer, so the plan price is the provider’s own. The provider sets pricing, billing, installation and support, and may compensate us for completed orders without raising what you pay.
How do I check internet at my exact Irving address?
A check starts with the street address and unit number. We check which providers reach it, explain the technology and the price after the promotion, and say plainly if the best fit is a network we do not sell.
