Internet Providers in Lewisville, TX: Fiber, Cable & 5G Compared

Lewisville is the strongest Frontier city in our North Texas set. In the FCC filings, Frontier Fiber reaches about 99% of the city, Spectrum cable about 99%, and AT&T Fiber about 1%. Astound, which we do not sell, adds a third wired network on part of the city, and 53% of households rent. Below is how the wired options compare, what to do if AT&T quoted you fiber, and what a renter-heavy city means for your choice.

The short answer

Check Frontier Fiber first; do not count on AT&T fiber

Frontier Fiber reports about 99% of Lewisville, uploads as fast as it downloads and locks its price for four years on the 500 Mbps plan. Spectrum cable reports about 99% too and is cheaper in year one. AT&T Fiber is close to absent, so if someone quoted you AT&T fiber, verify it before you plan around it.

Because 53% of Lewisville households rent, many readers will find the building decides what they can order. Ask first, then compare plans.

Census estimate, July 1, 2023

Lewisville’s 96.3% broadband subscription rate is among the highest we profiled, behind only Allen (97.3%). Almost everyone is already connected, so the choice is about price after the promotion, upload speed and what your building allows.

With 53% of households renting, Lewisville is a majority-renter city like Irving and Denton. For renters, the practical question is what is already wired to the unit, not what the street map says.

These are citywide figures from the Census QuickFacts table for Lewisville. Individual streets and buildings vary.

What is different in Lewisville

Lewisville is an apartment city on the move: what that changes

Among Lewisville, Allen, Arlington and Grand Prairie, Lewisville has the largest share of apartment living and the fastest turnover. The Census tables on housing and moves explain why what your building allows comes before which plan looks best.

What the Census showsLewisvilleWhat it means when you choose internet
Homes in buildings with 5 or more units40%Four in ten Lewisville homes are in multi-unit buildings, the highest share of the four cities, and about 21% are in complexes of 20 or more units. In a building, the property’s wiring and any provider arrangements can decide your options before the street map does.
Households that moved in since 202036%The highest turnover of the four cities, and about half of renting households arrived since 2020. If you may move again, ask whether a promotion or price lock transfers and what ending service early costs.
Households whose only internet is a phone data plan11%Although about 96% of households have some form of broadband, roughly one in nine has only a cellular data plan, so nearly everyone is connected includes households whose only connection is a phone plan.
Workers who work from home19%About one in five workers works from home, second to Allen among the four cities, which makes matching upload speeds and a good router worth attention.
Homes built before 199033%One home in three predates 1990, while about 23% were built since 2010, so building age varies a lot from street to street.

In a city where more than half of households rent, the order of operations is to find out what the building is wired for, confirm whether you can use fiber or only cable, and then compare plans. The Frontier-against-Spectrum comparison below is most useful once you know your building lets you choose.

Figures are citywide estimates, rounded, and individual streets and buildings vary. The “what it means” column is our reading, not Census data.

Frontier. Fiber 500 is $44.99 a month with Auto Pay and its price is guaranteed for four years, with five on faster plans, so a Lewisville household that stays put pays the same in 2030 as in 2026 on that tier. The $100 install fee on the 500 plan is waived from 1 Gig up.

Spectrum. Year one is cheap ($30 for 100 Mbps, $40 for 500) and year two is not ($50 and $85), so it fits a short lease better than a long stay. Expect roughly 35 Mbps going upstream on its Gig plan.

Planning estimates from published rates checked October 1–4, 2026, before taxes, fees and equipment. Frontier and AT&T assume Auto Pay and paperless billing. We confirm the live price before any order.

Frontier saves about $1,380 over four years on the 500 Mbps tier and about $1,860 over five years on the Gig tier compared with Spectrum. Spectrum only wins if you will leave within about a year, which matters in a city where more than half of households rent.

Lewisville’s third option

Frontier, Spectrum and Astound: what to compare

Lewisville is one of the few cities in our set with three wired networks. We sell Frontier and Spectrum; Astound reports about 20% fiber and 11% cable, advertised up to 1.5 Gig, and we do not sell it. If your address shows all three, compare them on the things that change your bill:

Our advice: get the post-promotion price and upload speed from all three in writing before you decide, and treat any quote without those two numbers as incomplete.

A common Lewisville mix-up

AT&T quoted you fiber in Lewisville? Check it

AT&T Fiber is reported at only about 1% of Lewisville, while older AT&T DSL is listed at about 14% and Internet Air at about 93%. So what you were quoted is most likely one of those two, not fiber.

  • Ask for the plan name and upload speed. Fiber uploads as fast as it downloads; DSL is far slower.
  • Ask whether Internet Air is fixed wireless. It is, so speed depends on signal and tower load.
  • Compare against Frontier Fiber, which reaches about 99% of the city and is the stronger long-term choice at most addresses.

If your address really is in AT&T’s small fiber footprint, it is worth a look, but confirm it before you cancel anything else.

Questions we get about Lewisville

Frequently asked questions

Why does Frontier Fiber reach about 99% of Lewisville?

In the FCC filings, Frontier Fiber is by far the widest fiber in Lewisville. That counts addresses Frontier says it could serve, so confirm your building before you plan around the number.

Is AT&T Fiber available in Lewisville?

Barely: about 1% of the city in the filings. AT&T’s older DSL is listed at about 14% and Internet Air at about 93%, so most AT&T quotes here are not fiber.

AT&T told me I can get fiber in Lewisville. What should I do?

Ask for the plan name and its upload speed, and whether it is DSL or Internet Air, since both are far more common than fiber here. Compare the answer with Frontier Fiber, which reaches about 99%.

What is Astound in Lewisville?

Astound reports about 20% fiber and 11% cable of Lewisville, advertised up to 1.5 Gig. We do not sell it, so check its own address tool and compare its price after the promotion with the plans we can order.

Should I pick Astound or Frontier in Lewisville?

If both reach your address, compare the post-promotion price and upload speed in writing. Frontier’s base rate is locked for four to five years and its fiber is symmetrical, which is hard to beat; Astound’s terms are set by Astound.

Is Spectrum enough for a Lewisville apartment?

For a one-year lease, often yes: it reports about 99% of the city and its 500 Mbps plan starts at $40. Past year one the price roughly doubles, and uploads stay near 35 Mbps on the Gig plan.

More than half of Lewisville households rent. What should I ask?

Which providers are wired to your unit, whether internet is bulk-billed, whether you may order your own, and whether any price lock moves with you if you leave.

What does Lewisville’s 96.3% broadband rate tell me?

The Census reports 96.3% of households have a broadband subscription, behind only Allen among the cities we profiled. Almost everyone is connected, so the useful comparisons are price after the promotion and upload speed.

What does Frontier cost over a Lewisville lease versus a four-year stay?

Over twelve months Spectrum’s $40 plan is cheaper than Frontier’s $44.99. Frontier pulls ahead around month 14 and finishes about $1,380 cheaper at four years ($2,160 against $3,540).

When does the Lewisville price jump happen?

On Spectrum it lands at month 13: 500 Mbps goes from $40 to $85. Frontier’s base rate does not move for four years on Fiber 500 and five on faster plans, so the bill you set up is the bill you keep.

Is Hotwire available in Lewisville?

Hotwire is reported at about 12% of the city. It is community fiber usually delivered through a property agreement, and we do not sell it, so ask your property manager whether your building has it.

Are 5G or AT&T Internet Air good backups in Lewisville?

T-Mobile and Verizon each report about 99% and Internet Air about 93%, so wireless is a real fallback for a short lease or a blocked install. Speed varies with signal and tower load, and uploads are lower than fiber.

Does Frontier’s Verizon ownership matter to a Lewisville renter?

Verizon finished buying Frontier on January 20, 2026, and plans are still sold under the Frontier name. For a renter the practical effect is small: your plan, price lock and any $15 Verizon-mobile discount belong to the account, so ask what happens to them if you move.

How fast is fast enough in a Lewisville apartment?

Most apartments are comfortable at 300–500 Mbps. Frontier’s fiber tops out at 7 Gig and Hotwire’s at 8 Gig in a few communities, but what you feel day to day depends on your Wi-Fi gear and how many people share the line.

What upload speed matters if I work remotely from Lewisville?

Aim for symmetrical service. Frontier’s fiber sends data as fast as it receives it and covers about 99% of the city, while Spectrum’s Gig plan uploads near 35 Mbps, fine for calls but slow for big file transfers.

Wired or wireless for gaming in a Lewisville apartment?

Wired, if the unit allows it. An Ethernet run from the router to the console beats any wireless link for latency, and Lewisville’s fiber footprint makes that easy at most addresses. Treat 5G as a fallback for competitive play, not the first choice.

What happens to my plan if I move between Lewisville apartments?

It depends on the provider and the new building. Ask whether the plan transfers, whether a price lock moves with you and whether the new unit is wired for the same network; an address Frontier does not reach means a fresh order.

Which Lewisville provider is the safest bet if I might cancel early?

Spectrum sells month to month, while Frontier’s terms can include a prorated early-termination fee in some cases. If your lease is short, the flexible option usually beats a locked price you will not use.

Is anything about Lewisville service pricier through Telemedia Solutions?

No. Orders are placed at the provider’s own price, and the provider handles billing, installation and support. Providers pay us for completed orders, which does not change what you pay.

What do you need from me to check my Lewisville address?

Just the full street address and unit number. We look up each provider that can serve it, tell you whether it is fiber, cable or DSL, give the price after the promotion and say so if the best option is a network we do not sell.
